If you’re venturing to Cork this summer, add the Clonakilty Makers Trail to your itinerary

A trip along the Wild Atlantic Way is a popular holiday activity for Irish people this summer, and it’s a great opportunity to discover local Irish artisans.

As part of Cork Craft Month, which Cork Craft & Design runs every August, a local shop owner has created the Clonakilty Makers Trail to highlight the talented creatives in the region.

Lisa Tonge of Green Dot Irish Design Makers has handpicked a list of makers studios, galleries and workshops in the town that tourists can visit.

The list makes for a lovely walking trail which is a fun activity to while away a weekend in this beautiful part of the country. Shoppers can meet the maker, learn about their craft and discover new pieces. From chocolatiers to artists, there are a host of characters to meet and learn from.

The 18 venues on the trail are:

  • Green Dot – Irish Design Makers
  • Anna Groniecka Photography
  • Stone Valley Coffee Roasters
  • Studio 43
  • Triskel Tattoo
  • Clonakilty Distillery
  • Elle Aime Upholstery
  • Clonakilty Community Arts Centre
  • Thady Trá Photography
  • Clonakilty School of Painting
  • The Store Room
  • The Hill Gallery
  • Exploding Tree
  • The Loft Gallery & Frames
  • The Bike Circus
  • Hot Knickers Lingerie
  • Clonakilty Friday Market
  • Clonakilty Brewing Company
