Discover hidden gems in beautiful Lurgan with these insider favourites

Wendie Gregg is a beauty lover who resides in the scenic town of Lurgan. She lives with chronic pancreatitis, and many hospital admissions and surgery forced her to give up her career in beauty. However, she still shares her favourite products, and personal stories, on her Instagram and blog. Here are some of Wendie’s favourite spots in beautiful Lurgan, in her own words:

“As a Lurgan woman all my life, it is easy to see how special Lurgan is. There is a real sense of community, and people still nod to each other on the street with a wide smile. It’s a beautiful place to live – Lurgan Castle even inspired the creators of Mary Poppins!

One of my favourite spots is definitely Lurgan Park and Castle.

Lurgan Park is the biggest in Northern Ireland, and second largest on the whole island after Phoenix Park. It’s a fantastic spot to have a peaceful afternoon stroll and enjoy the views.

For coffee or tea, I love New Haven Cafe for afternoon tea – a real treat.

Love Coffee does gorgeous specialty coffee as well as a number of other things: barista classes, an escape room, music, game nights, etc. It’s a really interesting, fun spot.

For a cocktail, I always go to The Courthouse Bar, a former courthouse dating back to 1873 which retains many of its original features. They do a selection of well-mixed cocktails as well as beers and specialty wines. Live music and entertainment make it a great spot to bring friends.

If you need to buy a special gift, you cannot go wrong with the Rushmere Shopping Centre, which is second only to Dundrum in footfall and has a wide selection of places to eat and drink. Shops range from independent stores to large retailers like Debenhams. I would recommend Faith Jewellers and Argento for locally made, beautiful jewelry.”
