The style at the 2024 Galway Races and the Racing for Rosabel charity event hit new heights for Irish fashion

For many, going to the races is not about watching horses run but about marvelling at the style on show.

If you have a wedding coming up or need occasionwear inspiration, there really is no better catwalk to watch than the racecourse. And this year was no exception. In fact, it was more stylish than ever!

At the Galway Races Ladies Day, the judging panel had a tough decision on their hands but ultimately chose a divine look with a surprising sustainable twist.

The stylish winner of the ‘Best Dressed Lady’ on the day was Davinia Knight from Portarlington Co Laois. Lauded for her exquisite black ensemble, Davinia walked away with a cash bonanza of €10,000. Her designer dress by Aje was rented from Gúna Rentals Ireland and her hat was created by Rachel Leech from Jennifer’s Hat Emporium.

Meanwhile, Eva Hayes Morrissey from Co Limerick, who works as a secondary school teacher, was crowned ‘Best Hat’ as she wowed in a stunning red side-disc hat with a gold embellished trim from Irish milliner Caithriona King. Eva won a cash prize of €3,000.

Racing for Rosabel is an annual charity event and was back for it’s 6th year in the Connacht Hotel on Monday 29 July. Described as the perfect way to kick off Race Week, it has become a well-loved fixture of Galway Race Week and is always a fantastic day full of fashion, racing tips, and fun.

This year, it was also awash with gorgeous, colourful dresses and hats from some of Ireland’s most style-savvy women.

MC’d by Tracy Piggot, the Best Dressed judges on the day were Grainne Seoige, Fiona Morgan Coleman and Gillian Duggan and they chose Bronagh O’Brien in a canary yellow dress and hat as their winner on the day.
