Congratulations to the brave, all-female group who jetted off to an Arctic wilderness on 13 March after a €100,000 fundraising drive. The 14-strong crew left Dublin airport for a week-long expedition to raise awareness about women’s heart health. The team had been training for a year for the Irish Heart Foundation’s Arctic Challenge – part of the charity’s ‘Her Heart Matters’ campaign. 11-year-old girl wins gold for Ireland at European MMA Championships

11-year-old Tramore native Freya Marsh won the Gold Medal at The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation 2025 IMMAF European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia earlier this year. It was Freya’s debut International MMA competition outing, as she has previously only competed in Jiujitsu competitions. The win also gives the Waterford athlete the title of ‘youngest Irish female’ to be awarded this gold medal.
