It can be hard to find the perfect skirt to wear at this time of year
It’s not that cold anymore but it’s also not warm. The sun is shining one minute and the next, it’s lashing rain making you rue the moment you decided on bare ankles and short sleeves.
So, what do you put on when you want to feel a bit more dressed up but don’t want to wear jeans? A skirt that can be dressed down for work or casual wear and dressed up for an evening out!
Here are a few of our favourites in stores at the moment:
1. Marks and Spencer
Are you seeing denim everywhere? Well, love it or hate it, it appears that it’s here to stay – for now at least. We really like this versatile tiered option from M&S that will go with any top in your wardrobe. Team with boots or trainers and a cross body bag and you’re set for the day.
2. Asos
Light enough that you won’t be too warm but dressy enough that you can wear it to any evening event, this skirt from asos.com is ideal for those “in between” weeks before the warmer weather kicks in.
3. Nicola Ross Naas
Tulle skirts are having a moment and as always, the more creative you are with it, the better it looks. This light pink one from Nicola Ross boutique in Naas is perfect for a late spring wedding but will also look amazing with a black polo and black heels for a dinner or theatre date. We also love it dressed down with a soft knit and trainers – so many options!
4. Dunnes
If you have a lot of black in your wardrobe, this skirt is a great way to break up your staples with a pop of animal print. Keep the rest of the outfit simple as this showstopper will be the main focus of attention.
5. Zara
This gorgeous skirt from Zara will work so hard for you as it can be paired with so much in your wardrobe. Wear it with black as pictured or try it with a white shirt for office, a blue knit for casual wear or a hot pink top for a night out with the girls.
6. FéRí
We love the bohemian beach vibes that emanate from this FéRí skirt. While the price point is a little higher, these sustainably made pieces are made to be worn and loved forever, season after season.
7. Fee G
This adorable tweed mini skirt from Irish designer label Fee G is a riot of sugary pastel colours, perfect for spring. While you can pick up any colour in the skirt in your top and accessories, it’s best to keep the rest of the outfit as simple as possible so as not to clash with this vibrant print.
8. New Look
Everything is more green in springtime – and perhaps that should be reflected in your wardrobe! This floaty floral number from New Look will look amazing with flats or styled up with platform sandals and a straw bag to take you from brunch to bar with little to no effort.
9. Styled by Sarah Rickard
This classy A-line skirt would make a stunning addition to your work wardrobe for spring. The pale denim blue colour is bright enough to add a pop of colour to your outfit without being overwhelming. Pure elegance.
10. Sinead Keary: The Label
Embrace your inner goddess with this ethereal satin mini skirt from Sarah Keary. We love it teamed with a soft cream cardigan (above) bit it will work just as well with a cream blazer or styled down with a simple top and sandals for a relaxed but sophisticated summer look,
