Here are three ‘cosy cooking’-inspired recipes to try out

Cosy cooking is a TikTok food trend that is supplying us with the comforting content we’ve been craving during the icy weather

The TikTok ‘cosy cooking’ trend has over 900k viewers watching these satisfying, informative videos because they are the perfect watch for some winter recipe inspiration. Be warned though, they are addictive to watch! Below we have rounded up some delicious cosy cooking recipes to try when you’re in the mood for something warm, fulfilling and deeply comforting.

Joely Hills @feelingtastyy

Joely Hill’s deeply satisfying cooking videos went viral on TikTok and has an entire series on the platform dedicated to cosy cooking. Her recipes can be found on her Instagram (@feelingtastyy) and are well worth trying out. Her 6 hour Bolognese, though time-consuming, is full of nourishing ingredients. She promises that it is worth the wait and good enough to splash out on the freshest pasta you can find.

6 hour Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 sticks celery
  • 3 shallots
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 roasted and peeled red peppers
  • 400g beef mince
  • 250ml red wine
  • 2 tbsp tomato purée
  • 200ml intense beef stock
  • Boquet garnis
  • Plenty of black pepper
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze

Method

  • Finely dice carrot, celery and shallots before adding to a large pan with olive oil.
  • Cook on medium stirring constantly until soft, approx. 8 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and diced peppers, stir to combine and cook for a further 3 minutes.
  • Add mince and break a part with a wooden spoon until there are no large pieces.
  • Allow mince to brown for approx. 5 minutes before adding red wine.
  • Add tomato purée, beef stock, tinned tomoatoes and boquet garnis.
  • Mix well then add lid.
  • Let simmer on low for a minimum of 2 hours, ideally 6 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve with your favourite fresh pasta, a ladle of pasta water and plenty or Parmesan and fresh basil.

Her soothing cooking videos often include voice-overs of the recipe itself or a life-story (like her soups inspired by her past break-ups series). Below is her crispy quinoa recipe from her blog justinesnacks.com, the perfect salad and soup topper.

Crispy Quinoa

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • 2 tbsp olive or any oil of your choice
  • 1/2 tsp Diamond Crystal kosher salt

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 190C.
  • Spread the quinoa evenly on a parchment lined baking sheet. Try to make it all in one layer, with no pieces on top of each other.
  • Drizzle with the olive oil and season with salt to taste. Mix with your hands to coat.
  • Bake at 190C for 25-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
  • Add finishing additions such as balsamic glaze or honey and toss to coat. Bake until the quinoa is golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve as a topping, as a side dish or as a snack.

This Instagram account posts daily mouth-watering recipes that those with a sweet tooth will for sure enjoy. Their four-ingredient Oreo and Nutella lasagna is the perfect sugary treat for the festive season. Easy to make with minimal ingredients, how could you resist?

Oreo and Nutella Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • For the cream:
  • 400ml double cream, cold
  • 50g icing sugar
  • 10 Oreo’s, crushed (save about 1/4 for the topping)
  • For the layers:
  • 30 Oreo’s, whole
  • 250g Nutella, melted

Method:

  • Whisk the double cream and icing sugar together to soft peaks. Then fold in the crushed Oreo’s.
  • Add a layer of Oreo’s to an 11×7″ dish.
  • Scoop out half the cream and smooth out.
  • Drizzle over melted Nutella and smooth out.
  • Add another layer of Oreo’s and cream. Smooth out before drizzling more melted Nutella over top.
  • Sprinkle Oreo crumbs around the edge and refrigerate for at least 7 hours.
