Cycling 2,400km of the Wild Atlantic Way

You can still donate to Lucy O’Sullivan’s incredible solo cycle and wild camping trip along the Wild Atlantic Way in aid of mental health charity Jigsaw

Lucy O’Sullivan set herself a colossal task this summer — to cycle the length of the Wild Atlantic Way on her own, wild camping along the way. This challenge was all in aid of youth mental health charity Jigsaw, and her initial goal was to raise €2,400, a euro for every kilometre cycled. She also made it her mission to raise awareness of the Conscious Cup campaign, by not using any disposable coffee cups on her route, bringing her reusable mug along for the ride.

She shared her journey on social media, sharing tips on camping, as well as the highs and lows of such a challenge. Followers watched on in awe as Lucy conquered mountains and tricky paths, and stopped off for swims at stunning Irish beaches. When the unthinkable happened, and Lucy discovered that someone had stolen her gear and vandalised her bike, supporters from across the country rallied around her, donating items to help her complete her journey.

On Sunday, 5 September, Lucy met her goal by cycling into Kinsale, the official end point of the Wild Atlantic Way. She has now far exceeded her target of €2,400, as donations have surpassed the €10,000 mark.

Donations can be made until 25 September at idonate.ie.
