Padraig Howley has charmed the nation with his Instagram account sharing his attempts to change his lifestyle at 67.

His doctors advised him to make some changes for his health, and after meeting The Happy Pear foodies David and Stephen Flynn, he decided to try their healthy lifestyle recommendations from their book, The Happy Health Plan. He is attempting to go vegan for 21 days.

He decided to share his fitness journey on Instagram, and with just six posts on his feed so far, in less than a week he has gained over 30,000 followers, thanks to his endearing updates and great singing voice.

He shares some updates about himself, and what he is eating that day, but also throws in a song or too, which is no surprise given he is from Kilfenora, Co Clare, a spot known for trad music. He is also aiming to get 10,000 steps a day.

His upbeat can-do attitude is inspiring people all over the country. Padraig has been working as a welder for 40 years, and while he has to work late quite often, he is staying commited to his new healthy eating plan.
