Inside the September | October issue of Irish Country Magazine

Roisin Healy by Roisin Healy

The new issue celebrates three amazing women changing Ireland for the better

We’re excited to share the September|October issue, featuring three boundary-breaking women on the cover. Hazel Chu, Ellie Kisyombe and Eileen Flynn are each trailblazers in their own right, fighting for positive, meaningful change in difficult areas such as Traveller rights, Direct Provision and homelessness. Together, they are ground-breakers and part of a global narrative that is increasingly showing us how women in leadership can result in monumental change. They graciously gave us time in their tight schedules to capture their portraits (from a safe distance), and spoke to Róisín Healy about why they’re passionate about standing up for the lesser-heard and the voiceless in Irish society.

Breathe of fresh air

The fashion shoot in this issue aims to eclipse the monotony of a paused pandemic world with fun and unique designs. With mismatched patterns and statement pieces, this is mood-lifting fashion at its best.

Meanwhile, Ruth O’Connor turns the usual September fashion report on its head. Not only has the way we shop and dress changed because of the pandemic, but it has transformed the fashion industry too. Discover what to buy, the conscious brands to shop from and what the future holds for fashion.

Soothing space

Our interiors shoot takes place in the serence, holiday-inspired home of Peter Irvine and Damian Curran in Belfast. The white colour palette allows the natural beauty of every piece of furniture and accessory to shine through.

Comforting eats

Whether you’re cooking for friends and family at home, or simply want to make your kitchen more sustainable, we have recipes to suit. Discover simple recipes to make for a gathering, and how to cook impressive meals with less waste.
