Have you gotten into a rut when it comes to the first meal of your day?

Between school, work and exercise, mornings can be hectic but that’s no reason to become immune to what you have for breakfast.

In a survey released by Alpro, it was revealed that while three-quarters of Irish people look forward to their morning meal, it often tends to be one of the most boring. In fact, 1 in 5 Irish people have eaten the same breakfast for 5 years or longer every day with little to no variation.

Our top breakfast options include toast (40%), cereal (34%), porridge (29%) and eggs (21%) with tea (33%) and coffee (29%) high on the agenda as well.

With that in mind, here are two new smoothies for you to try out when you’re in the mood for something different:

45g blueberry

40g raspberry

1.5g basil

Mint leaves

200ml Alpro Almond Roasted Unsweetened Drink

40g strawberry

Method:

  • Chop your berries, if you think they need to and tip them all into your blender along with the aromatic basil.
  • Add the Alpro Almond Roasted, Unsweetened Drink.
  • Whizz, pour and enjoy! Top with a sprig of mint for a little extra refreshment. It may be pink, but it packs a mean punch for plant goodness and flavour.
