Here’s what’s on our must-see list

Killruddery, Co Wicklow

The sun is set to stick around all weekend, and we can’t wait to get out. Whether you’re headed on a staycation, shopping or getting into nature, there’s plenty to keep you busy.

Heading out

Across the weekend in Cork and Dublin, you’ll find pop-up kilo sales for all your vintage shopping needs. Think thrift shopping but where you pay by weight – €30 per kilo, to be exact. To get an early entry slot, you can buy an early bird ticket for €2 but otherwise entry is free.

Wicklow’s stunning Killruddery estate is reopening on 1 April, along with the garden and tea rooms. Open 09.30 to 17.00 in April, and 09.30 to 18.00 from May to September, access to Killruddery’s gardens and green spaces means you can stroll though a biodiverse, natural sanctuary. Entry starts at €7.50, but it’s worth looking at membership options if you’re an avid garden visitor!

For an alternative view of Dublin, sign up to a secret walking tour with I’m Grand Mam’s PJ Kirby. It’s not happening until next week (8 April), but slots are sure to fill up so head to Eventbrite to secure your place. The tour is a collaboration between Google and Alternative Dublin. Attendees on this free guided tour will discover the city’s unique culture and visit hidden locations across the city through a Google Lens.

In Galway, the fundraising committee of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute have organised a ‘Walk in Pink – 7K on Mother’s Day’ event on Sunday 27 March, starting at 10:30am from The Claddagh Hall to Blackrock and back. Those attending are asked to gather from 10am. Registration is just €20 and you’ll take home a free beanie, too.

Staying in

If you’re having a chill weekend or isolating with Covid, there’s still lots to keep you entertained. Louise McSharry’s new podcast, Catch Up with Louise McSharry went live on Friday. On the inaugural episode, she has a stellar line-up of guests from journalist Aoife Moore to Marian Keyes. If you’ve missed hearing Louise on the airwaves, she’s finally back.

If you fancy a stream: On Netflix, Bridgerton‘s second steamy season is out. For any true crime/drama fans, Disney Plus just released the next episode of The Dropout – based on the real story of Theranos. And if you’re feeling brave, watch Sebastian Stan and Daisy Edgar Jones navigate love and..ahem..dinner in the creepy Fresh, also on Disney.
