Women in Sport Week runs from 7-13 March

Sport Ireland has today announced the launch of Women in Sport Week, which will run until 13 March.

The aim of the event is to:

  • Celebrate every woman and girl who plays, coaches, officiates, volunteers, works in and leads out in sport.
  • Promote and highlight the ongoing work of Sport Ireland, NGBs, LSPs and other stakeholders and clubs.
  • Highlight some of the programmes/initiatives funded by Sport Ireland Women in Sport Programme.

This year’s Women in Sport Week is focused on four areas – Active Participation, Coaching and Officiating, Visibility & Leadership and Governance. Over the course of the coming week, there will be a series of webinars and panels to highlight the important role women play in sport, and remind us of the achievements to be celebrated. See the full programme here.

And If you want to walk, jog, run or volunteer, you just need to register once on the parkrun website. You can then print your barcode, and turn up at any parkrun anywhere in the world.

You can celebrate this week by hitting the park this weekend, training with the girls, or even just cheering a little louder for the women’s team.
