SeaFest, Ireland’s largest free family-friendly maritime celebration, is offering one lucky reader a chance to win an overnight stay in Cork city this June to experience all the festival has to offer.

There are over 100 activities to choose from at SeaFest, which runs from 7 to 9 June at the Port of Cork, Cork City. Presented by Cork City Council and the Inter-Departmental Marine Coordination Group, highlights include docked vessel tours, equipment displays, delicious seafood demonstrations and intriguing marine workshops.

For those wishing to experience all the maritime fun that SeaFest has to offer, a stay for two adults and two children at the stunning Maldron Hotel on South Mall is up for grabs for Friday, 7 June. Cork’s newest four-star city centre hotel is located in the heart of Cork’s shopping, business and entertainment district, and is a five minute walk from all the action at SeaFest.

Explore the ocean with the Marine Institute, discover the cause of tidal forces, and hear tales from the deep at The Wild Atlantic marquee. Popular with little ones, the Explorers Education Programme offers the chance to get up-close with sea creatures; while Head of Forecasting at Met Éireann, Evelyn Cusack will talk about our changing weather and how and why storms are named.

Bord Iascaigh Mhara‘s Aquaculture Remote Classroom features virtual reality to transport you underwater to oyster farms, rope grown mussels and salmon — explaining how fish and shellfish are sustainably produced in Ireland.

Catch cooking demos at the BIM and Bord Bia Seafood Experience with celebrity chefs Rory O’Connell, Neven Maguire and Martin Shanahan and fishmongers Hal Dawson and Pat O’Connell, before getting out on the water in a kayak, sailboat, currach or dragon boat. Hop on board the Marine Institute’s RV Celtic Explorer; Commissioners of Irish Lights’ ILV Granuaile and the beautiful Tall Ship; and if you attend on Sunday, 9 June, don’t miss the breathtaking tight rope walk by high wire artist Chris Bullzini across the River Lee

Your visit to SeaFest will be one you will never forget. For more information see seafest.ie.
