During the festive season, we all love to catch-up with people that we don’t get to see that often. Taking time out from the shopping and food prepping and living in the moment is essential. With this is mind, we have found some really great restaurants, cafes and bars for you to go to over the Christmas. From festive afternoon tea to prosecco and painting, there is an activity to suit every group.
Delicious brunch
Crawford Gallery Café is located on the ground floor of the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork. The café serves delicious lunches and cake and is the ideal meeting spot for meeting up with friends or loved ones. Crawford Gallery Café was opened in 1986 by Myrtle Allen and her daughter Fern. The café is a beautiful spot to have lunch in and with its high-ceilings and tall windows really make for a lovely dining experience.
Tea and tasty treats
If you are looking to get into the festive spirit and enjoy chats over a cup of tea and delicious cakes, then check out the festive afternoon tea at the Intercontinental Dublin. We got a sneak peek at the menu and it was amazing. There is so much thought and detail put in to the items on the menu and it not only looks beautiful but it tastes great too! If you have want to treat your littles one this Christmas, there is also a Children’s Afternoon Tea menu. Christmas is a busy period for afternoon tea, so we recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. The Festive Afternoon Tea is available from 1st December and is €40 per person or €15 per child.

Charming surroundings and the French vintage decor of Mocha’s Vintage Tea Rooms offers a relaxing ambiance to enjoy freshly made baked goods, a healthy lunch or delicious dinner. Situated in the heart of Kilkenny, the restaurant is a perfect place for a Christmas catch-up.
Creative catch-ups
The Painting and Prosecco pop up events are the perfect afternoon activity to do with your friends or loved one. During the class you create your own canvas painting with a step-by-step instruction from our local artist whilst sipping a glass of bubbly or drink of choice. There is no experience necessary so it is just a fun activity to enjoy and you have food or drinks in The Jar restaurant after if you wish. Fine dining
If you want to really get the full dining experience, the check out the Pullman restaurant in the Glen Abbey Hotel in Galway. Set in two exquisite original carriages from the Orient Express which have been beautifully restored and are located on the grounds of the hotel, in one of the most prestigious dining experiences in the country.
