An exhibition of jewellery by four contemporary artists from Ireland and China will open at the National Design and Craft Gallery in Kilkenny on Friday, 2 February.

Entitled ‘Bounded + Unlimited: Contemporary Jewellery', the showcase is the first Irish-Chinese jewellery exchange of its kind. The work featured has been developed especially for the exhibition and the title refers to their personal and national cultural influences and the freedom they have to communicate and find mutual understanding through the traditions of the craft.

The Irish goldsmiths exhibiting are Eimear Conyard who is the manager of DCCOI’s Jewellery and Goldsmithing Skills and Design Course and Christopher Heltzel of the brand Rudolf Heltzel. Chinese artists, Hu Jun, professor of Jewellery Design at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Binyu Chen, a lecturer at the School of Art at Beijing City University, will exhibit their designs.
