A look back on 2017 | Irish Country Magazine

Editor Jennifer Stevens reflects on a great year of events, cover shoots and innovation at Irish Country Magazine

  • The year in covers | Irish Country Magazine

It’s been a great year at Irish Country Magazine. We’ve had so much going on, so many wonderful cover stars to interview, events to host and exciting things to write about. Meeting you, the readers, is always a massive high point for me and whether we met you at one of our Exhale events in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Killarney or Galway, at a reader evening or at the Ploughing it’s always a pleasure so say hello.

We had some amazing covers this year too. Of course it was so exciting to fly to Toronto to shoot and interview Sarah Rafferty from Suits but we had some beautiful shoots here at home as well. From Aoibhín Garrihy on the Cliffs of Moher (it was freezing – she was amazing) to Faye Dinsmore on the beach in Donegal and Gráinne Seoige in a Castle in Dublin to Pippa O’Connor Ormond in Kildare, it definitely was a year of iconic Irish women.

This year we took our Irish Made stamp and turned it into the Irish Made Awards. Over 59,000 of you voted for your favourite Irish businesses and we were blown away by your support of home grown talent. It went so well that early next year we’re excited to announce The Irish Made Summit – a day of talks, advice, networking and so much more for Irish producers, crafters, makers and businesses.

I can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for Irish Country Magazine but if it’s half as exciting as 2017 I can’t wait to get started!

Happy New Year.
